Nokshi Kantha means Designed Blanket.
For centuries Bengali women stitching together two or three layers of old saris, transforming it in economical blankets.
The stitch that keeps together the layers becomes a picture.
The few presented by us are examples of Nokshi Kantha, which reached the level of art.
Naive, as BS (Banchte Shekha), or sophisticated, as sur (Mrs. Suraya).
But always art.
